The Government and Our Rights

The government should be free and exist because we want it to; it exists in order to protect us, to protect our rights. However, before I get into my opinions on when to submit to the government, you need to understand that, in order for it to work properly, it must include 3 things: a bill of rights, a constitution, and a set of laws. You also need to understand what the primary goal of the government should be—solely benefit the people by protecting the rights that are included in these afore mentioned written documents, primarily the 3 unalienable and natural rights: life, liberty, and property. I cannot stress enough how important these rights are and how little some people know about them, or frankly, any of our other rights.

Okay….. now on to how I feel about the government. Just because it has a constitution, laws, and a bill of rights does not mean that it is worth obeying and supporting. The government needs to have some sort of way to check itself (and if I lived in modern day, I’d probably say before it wrecks itself) to prevent an overtaking of power, to prevent another monarchy like Great Britain.

So I guess I am going to stop here about my opinions before things get too crazy, but essentially, as long as the government and the citizens have a mutual understanding and agree to the unspoken contract listed below, everything should work out well. And if something goes wrong, it is up to use to fix it.

      – The government exists for the people’s benefit.

      – The government exists to protect the rights of the people.

      – The people must obey the laws of the government as long as they don’t contradict or infringe on the rights listed in the Constitution and the Bill of Rights. (Say something about it if their is contradiction/infringement.)

      – The people must respect the limits to their “unlimited” freedoms. For example, don’t harm others unless absolutely necessary, which is rare (plus, I’m just going to help them after so please, make my job easier), because it takes away their basic right to life.

You get the picture. Anyway, see you next time.
