Let us talk about the (what I call) “non-agreements.” I feel it is necessary, as the controversial “‘Non’ Agreements” (there are several so that is what I am calling them) are being passed, and I have read the letter to the farmers from Samuel Seabury.
I am not a farmer, and most definitely do not live in New York, so the newly passed agreements likely will not much affect me and have not affected me yet; however, that is not to say the non-importation, non-exportation, and non-consumption agreements will not have consequences because they will, and they do.
I wish for us all to come to a peaceful agreement and understanding that benefits everyone, while still preventing Britain from becoming all powerful and taking control over us once again. Independence is more important than some people will ever understand. I feel I need to express how important it is to give away some of our freedoms in order for the government to protect us, as long as the said government knows and abides by its purpose and does not activate our moral obligation to rebel and overthrow it if needed. We only do this in order to maximize (for EVERYONE) all the opportunities life throws at us. This is NOT a bad thing.
But also, do what you need to do. If someone gets hurt, I’ll just heal ya. Try not to kill anyone or tear things up too much.
