What Makes a Revolutionary?

I have already defined what it means to be a revolutionary and stated that I am a revolutionary. Now I am going to prove what makes this so.

First things first, patriots aren’t the only ones that can be revolutionaries. Loyalists and neutrals can as well, even though we may not want to admit it.

I am what you might call a dissident elite. I am wealthy. I am in favor of the revolution. I am educated. I am willing and able to fight what I believe in and will continue to find new capacities to do so, as I keep getting kicked out of my positions for standing up for what is right. Soon you’ll read one instance of why.

I am highly frustrated with a lot of things right now. This is a part of what gives me the characteristic of being a dissident elite instead of simply an elite. I have written numerous anonymous complaints about George Washington and Alexander Hamilton, but my complaints have never remained anonymous, and only resulted in my forced resignation and getting new jobs to stand up for what is right. I am a driven person, highly coming from my experience of being an orphan, but also because I have and hold tightly onto my values that I received from my religious background.

All I want is for our soldiers to learn how to be healthy and stay well. That should not be too much to ask. Did you know more soldiers are dying from the lack of hygiene during the battles than are actually killed by the violence itself? Yeah, well, George Washington was blind to that, and when I told him (after my letter was shown to him and he recognized my handwriting), he forced me to resign. He didn’t even care! He refused to take the constructive criticism I offered, and that makes me furious. Everyone, especially his soldiers, looks up to him, but he won’t do anything for them. People are needlessly dying, and he won’t be proactive even when there is actually something he can do!

Anyway, I’ll stop there with that for now. My point is, we are all frustrated about something, and these things are fueling the disagreements and violence of the revolution. The loyalists are closed minded because of their frustrations and simply can’t see how the lack of independence from England will hurt us more than help us. We have the same desire and same motivations; we only want what is best for these colonies, but their frustrations are holding them back from what is RIGHT. I understand where they may be coming from, but they’re wrong, and I will work to the end of my days showing and proving that to them.
